As it turns out, WhatsApp is now officially compatible with almost every platform. According to the latest news, Facebook has reportedly released WhatsApp with Voice Calling for BlackBerry 10 users. It is worth noting that, the social networking giant has already released the messaging app for Google Android and Apple iOS users. To top it off, the Windows Phone version of WhatsApp is apparently gearing up for release.

The BlackBerry-dedicated site CrackBerry says, the WhatsApp calling feature is now available with the latest updated version 2.12.1.2 in BlackBerry World. In addition to the voice calling feature, this update also comes with several new features and improvements. It is worth reminding that, up until now, the BlackBerry 10 users with the “beta version” of WhatsApp were apparently able to utilise the voice calling feature. However, now, every BlackBerry 10 user can make use of the killer new feature.

Speaking of WhatsApp version 2.12.1.2, the BlackBerry 10 users can now make free VoIP calls to kith and kin and this apparently includes both local and overseas calls. Furthermore, tapping “Search” in the actions list lets WhatsApp users to immediately search for individual contacts, messages and chats threads. Adding a cherry on top, the Fonts seen in the WhatsApp reportedly match the ones predominantly used in BlackBerry 10.3.

On the other hand, the support for navigation and focus has reportedly been improved specific to the BlackBerry Classic smartphone. Plus, the Location messages apparently display a relatively bigger map preview. And interestingly, the WhatsApp users can now add “unknown contacts” (with whom a BB user was chatting) to the contact list. Also, BlackBerry 10 users can now utilise the custom ringtone specific to incoming calls from WhatsApp.

Meanwhile, attachments like pictures, audios and videos received via WhatsApp can reportedly be classified in year or month subdirectories. In addition, the new WhatsApp with Voice Calling for BlackBerry 10 users also brings in counts to the Favs/Groups/Contacts tabs. This can be achieved by apparently “pulling down the list past the beginning.”

Apart from the new WhatsApp features and updates explained above, this new version also comes with miscellaneous bug fixes. Interested readers can download the WhatsApp with Voice Calling for BlackBerry 10 from BlackBerry’s AppWorld.
