WhatsApp is in the process of starting voice calling feature for Android, iOS, Windows Phone and other mobile operating system platform. Since the launch of the WhatsApp Call feature, it has been available to the users on invitation basis only. However, fresh reports reveal that the said feature is now available for Android users without any invitation.

WhatsApp Call For Android

According to Android Police, by installing WhatsApp with version number 2.12.19 from Google Play Store, Android users can make use of the voice calling feature. The other option is to download the APK file of WhatsApp and install it after enabling Unknown sources in Security Settings. Alternatively, users can install the latest edition of WhatsApp from its official website.

Since calls made through WhatsApp are not traditional phone calls but are calls made over the internet. Hence, WhatsAap recommends its users to use an unlimited data plan. WhatsApp Call will only work on Android devices having v2.1 or higher.

WhatsApp Call For iOS

As of this writing, WhatsApp Call for iOS is still unavailable. Users who have jailbroken their iPhones can take advantage of WhatsApp Call. The Venture Beat claims that during the Facebook F8 developer event that was held on March 19, the co-founder of WhatsApp had announced that the feature would be soon coming for iDevices in a “couple weeks.”

For users who can’t wait for WhatsApp to activate voice calling for iOS devices, The Fuse Joplin has suggested the following steps on a jailbroken device:

  • Download and install AppSyn and then also install the latest Whatsapp BETA version.
  • The next step requires users to add repositories cydia.angelxwind.net and apk.imokhles.com to Cydia sources.
  • Download and install WhatsApp Call Enabler and activate it through settings on WhatsApp.
  • After completing the above steps, iOS users are required to find someone who has already activated the WhatsApp Call feature and ask him to make a voice call through WhatsApp.
  • After receiving the call, users are required to restart their devices and launch the app again. WhatsApp Call feature will now show up on the user interface of the app.

WhatsApp Call For Windows Phone

WhatsApp voice calling service is also unavailable for Windows Phone users. However, WM Power User reports that the WhatsApp Call is under development stage and it will arrive in the near future. WhatsApp has not yet confirmed the arrival of the said feature for Windows Phone users.
