“Australia’s Next Top Model” is being billed as one reality television show Down Under that gives its hopefuls greater chances at pursuing their chosen careers.

The host of the show, Sarah Murdoch shares what she has in mind to become one of the main faces of the reality competition, which began Monday, August 8 aired on Fox8 Australia.

“'I felt the only way I could do it is if I could show the fashion industry for what it is, the great things the industry has,” Murdoch was quoted as telling The Guide in an interview by the Sydney Morning Herald.

“That is, not sensationalising the stereotypes and no bullying,” Murdoch added.

Murdoch, a model herself, was in hot water in last year’s season of the show due to a mix-up she had caused when she announced the runner up, Kelsey Martinovich as the winner and not Amanda Ware. She is back this year and provided a sneak peek at what lies ahead of the new show.

Murdoch will be working with the members of the judging panel, Charlotte Dawson and Alex Perry with 100 aspiring model to hit the runway. [It was later reported however, that this year’s contestants were down to one after one of them walked away not on the same runway as jitters got the best of the unnamed contestant and quit.]

Murdoch explains changes to see in this year’s season.

“'I felt we should show the great things the fashion industry can do, getting in the best photographers, showing how we could transform these girls.”

“…I think the audience has changed as well, wanting more aspirational television, something more than just Big Brother, something more than just watching the train-wreck television,'' Murdoch said.

She also said that the show’s players find the significance of making people feel ‘that the stakes are real” and no one is pulling someone’s leg for advertising or just a show.

While she noted that there are notable disappointments on the show in the past series, Murdoch said that this season is headed for a more positive directions.

“There are disappointments, such as Cassi van den Dungen, who could easily have won [series five], but I'm sure she didn't because she wouldn't then have gone on and followed through. They have to be ready for it; they have to want it, too. I say to each of them, 'Are you really hungry for this? When you get out into the real world it's going to be really hard','' Murdoch said, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
