“Westworld” actress Evan Rachel Wood (Dolores) got real about her own experiences of coming out as a bisexual woman. In a 13-minute speech at a Human Rights Campaign gala held earlier this month, the actress has shared that she is talking about bisexuality because she felt like it was her duty to do so.

Wood said the voices that she had listened to inspired her to open up about bisexality. The people she identifies with have inspired her to use her fame to bring light to the issue. Even the films and music that she has watched and heard made her want to share her own experiences.

“I choose to use my voice because it would feel selfish to have acquired the platform to represent the underrepresented and to not use it,” she said during her speech. The actress believes that artists have a significant task to represent the underrepresented.

For Wood, she lives by the belief that a real artist doesn’t care what people think. A truer artist is one who would care for others.

The “Westworld” star said she opted to speak up to connect with others who face the same battle. She said it would be selfish if she did not use her voice. “People wouldn’t try so hard to silence and discredit you if your voice didn’t matter,” she added.

Wood's parents are both artists. Her father, Ira David Wood III, is a theatre actor. Her mum, Sara Wood, is an actress and acting coach.

“Westworld” season 1 viewers would recognise Wood’s character as Dolores, the oldest host in the park. She has been updated several times over the years. She is not self-aware and is not one who would question her reality.

The actress has also portrayed a character named Jenny in the Fynny or Die feature “Big with Evan Rachel Wood and Darren Criss.” She has also played Daisy Kensington in “Barefoot” among others. Wood has been nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series for her performance in “Westworld” season 1. The actress has also won Most Egregious Age Difference Between the Leading Man and the Love Interest at EDA Special Mention Award for her performance in “Whatever Works.”

Currently, the actress is engaged to Zach Villa, her partner in the musical duo “Rebel and a Basketcase.” “I also thought that men were beautiful,” she explained. She said she had resorted to bury the same-sex attraction.

The actress has a three-year-old son with ex-husband actor Jamie Bell. Wood gave birth in July 2013.

It is expected that Westworld” season 2 will see more of Dolores. Official air date of the upcoming instalment is yet to be officially announced.
