The death of Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack) in “Wentworth” season 4 finale has been a shocking event for several fans. Many viewers were left wondering why the show opted to kill its main character. While the show producer has already confirmed the death of Bea and said her demise was for dramatic purposes, several fans are still hoping that the lead character is still alive and will be back next season. And it seems she will return, as Cormack supposedly confirmed in a tweet.

Cormack retweeted a fan's tweet featuring a photo of her character and other inmates. The post was tweeted alongside the caption, “Got me some Amborsia, bitches? I'M BACK!?” With the retweet from Cormack herself, fans are quick to speculate that the actress hints her return for “Wentworth” season 5.

But it is also likely that Cormack was only showing appreciation to the fan who posted the photo on social media. Cormack has not provided any details as to why she posted the photo on Twitter and is mum about whether or not she would be returning for the upcoming season.

Through the past four seasons, Bea has undoubtedly become the mean character in the series. Show executive producer Jo Porter said it has been a difficult decision to say farewell to Bea. It may be hard to imagine how the show would continue after the death of the lead protagonist but the producer has assured that Bea’s demise will pave way for new characters.

“While the shoes of Bea Smith will be hard to fill, with the start of season 5 the gates of Wentworth Correctional Facility will again open to a raft of potential new stories and characters,” Porter told TV Week. There are reports that Liam Hemsworth will be part of the show to be Cormack’s replacement but this has not been officially confirmed yet.

In the latest instalment, Bea was stabbed multiple times by Joan “The Freak” Ferguson (Pamela Rabe). But it seems she had a death wish as her lesbian lover, Allie (Kate Jenkinson) wakes up from coma before “Wentworth” season 4 has ended.

Fans can recall that the Freak injected Allie with a lethal cocktail of drugs. Some viewers may not have thought she will survive as doctors advised that there is a little chance for her to make it. But the series certainly loves to put its fans at the edge of their seats. Before season 4 has ended, Allie was seen waking up at the same time that Bea was getting stabbed.

The crime drama TV series originally aired on SoHo in Australia. Official air date for “Wentworth” season 5 is yet to be announced.
