“Wentworth” season 4 has ended with the death of Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack). While several fans are hoping that the show’s main character is still alive, that is no longer possible as the show producer has already confirmed her demise, but assured that Bea’s death will open gates for new characters.

Jo Porter, FremantleMedia Australia’s director of drama and “Wentworth” executive producer, has admitted that the shoes of Bea will be difficult to fill. “While the shoes of Bea Smith will be hard to fill, with the start of season 5 the gates of Wentworth Correctional Facility will again open to a raft of potential new stories and characters,” she said.

There are reports that Liam Hemsworth will be the replacement of Cormack in the series. However, the Aussie actor’s appearance in “Wentworth” season 5 has not been officially confirmed yet. Porter did not say a word about his casting for the series’ next instalment. Even Hemsworth’s camp has not confirmed that he will be part of “Wentworth” season 5.

Furthermore, Porter said they will be forever indebted to Cormack for the past four seasons that she has been part of the series. The show producer described the actress as magnificent, powerful and brave.

Even actress Katrina Milosevic (Boomer) has reacted to the unexpected death of Smith in the show. During her appearance in “Kyle & Jackie O Show,” the actress said the fact that Cormack has left is such a loss. “The fact that Danielle has left, I’m still getting my head around it,” she said. She knows that the audience must be feeling the same way.

With new characters that are expected to be introduced in “Wentworth” season 5, it is likely that the new season will feature new stories too. Milosevic said things need to change and they have to keep growing.

“The thing is, from the point of the show, things have to change, we have to keep growing and we have to keep smashing open the story,” the actress told TV Week. Milosevic believes that Cormack has no hard feelings about being written out of the series because she understands that her demise is vital for the story.

Milosevic described her co-star as an extremely smart and talented girl. According to her, Cormack has always been all about the storyline.

The crime drama TV series originally aired on SoHo in Australia. Official air date for “Wentworth” season 5 is yet to be announced.
