“Wentworth” season 5 release date is set this year and the show’s return to the small screens will definitely happen with or without Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack). There were reports that some fans will boycott the show after it killed its main character, but for the peace of mind of avid viewers, the official Facebook page of the Australian drama series lists a 2017 air date for season 5.

However, no official release date has been set for the series’ fifth season yet. While this information remains unknown, fans should never doubt the show’s renewal with proof indicating that season 5 is sure to push through.

TV Tonight reported in July that Foxtel has ordered another season of the series. While the series’ return is sure, several fans are still wondering whether or not Cormack’s character will be back next season. The show’s producer had already confirmed the character’s death, but spoilers for the show are getting into a different direction.

Socratis Otto (Maxine Conway) tweeted the hashtag "#beasmith" along with a quote that reads "You're beautiful." The social media post may be alluding to Bea’s death or possible comeback in season 5. But if she returns, it is likely that she will only be seen in flashbacks.

Since Bea is really dead, there are theories that Kate Jenkinson (Allie Novak) will be the new central character in the show. Jenkinson believes that although the show killed its main protagonist, Bea had found love in the end through her relationship with Allie. “Bea desperately deserved some kind of respite and love, an escape from her world, and that’s exactly what she got in the end,” Jenkinson told Curve Mag.

And the feeling was mutual. Jenkinson said her character felt safe in the arms of her lesbian lover. “She was so close, for the first time in her life, to being with someone she loved and who loved her in return, and despite the obvious dangers, Allie felt quite safe within the prison walls,” she added.

There might be a new addition to the cast too. Liam Hemsworth is allegedly joining the cast for the series’ fifth run. He might be the replacement of Bea, but this too, has not been officially confirmed. Hemsworth’s camp is yet to comment about the report.

“Wentworth” aired in SoHo in Australia. Release date for its upcoming season is expected to be announced in the near future.
