Just like any other TV series based on a novel, “Wayward Pines” has already caught up with its original source as early as season one. The entire second season was made of all-original material done spontaneously after the cast and crew finished filming the first. Now that season 2 has concluded with a shocking ending, viewers are now wondering if there is going to be a third season of M. Night Shyamalan’s Sci-Fi thriller series.

While there have not been any definite announcements to whether or not “Wayward Pines” will move on to Season 3, the possibility of having one is not yet precluded. A post on Bustle shows what the third season, if there is going to be one, can potentially feature.

The report says that season 3 can be pretty much about absolutely anything. With half of the townsmen being deep into cryogenic deep slumber for centuries, or maybe even longer, they could wake up to a completely different world. But what could the world look like then? Whether it will be more hostile, or friendlier, can only be known if such a third season will air.

One possible clue from season 2 could be that scene where an Abbie is spotted carrying a child that uncannily bears human features. This leads to a lot of speculations. Was that even a human child or something completely different?

What is obvious is that the Abbies are evolving. They are in the process of turning into completely different creatures, author Blake Crouch confirms with Entertainment Weekly.

Another clue would be what was seen as some sort of vegetation. This means that there is still some green shooting through the soil and that life still continues. Possibly, taken together with the infant, these could point out to a new beginning.

With clues abound and more possibly ahead, there is definitely a lot that “Wayward Pines” can put in its third season if it would be lucky enough to score a contract renewal with Fox, even for just one last time. M. Night Shyamalan was very spontaneous when he decided to continue with a second season after the first one sped up on covering all three books. Whatever it features, it will be worth giving the viewers one last shot at an ending they deserve to witness. “Wayward Pines” season 2 ended in July 27, 2016.
