According to The Hollywood Reporter, Patric, who previously appeared on “Narc,” “The Lost Boys” and “Rush” has been named to become the new leading man of “Wayward Pines” Season 2.

The new storyline will continue on the events from the final episode of the first season, where the residents of the town will be struggling against the very strict regime of the First Generation. Dr. Theo Yedlin is a new resident of Wayward Pines, who will arise from suspended animation and discover that he is in the middle of a rebellion. This while he tries to uncover the mystery behind the town and find ways to save the endangered human race.

Patric’s character is, so far, described as a confident and determined surgeon who possesses leadership skills that will be highly needed by the residents of the town.

Matt Dillon starred in the first season as Ethan. His character died at the end to save the residents of Wayward Pines. Patric will continue the story, while other characters are still being cast to play Theo’s wife, a teenager who will be a member of the town’s new brain trust, a secret rebel and three other recurring roles. It is still uncertain which characters from the previous season will make a return.

Slash Film writes that Season 2 will also have 10 episodes. Producer M. Night Shyamalan said that they initially intended for the first season to have a beginning, middle and ending, and not one with an open ending, similar to several other shows. However, they did have an idea on what to potentially do if there should be a demand for Season 2. He said that he did not finish the first season, so he is not certain which cast members made it out of the town alive in the first story arc.

“Wayward Pines” Season 2 is set to launch in summer 2016 at FX Australia.
