Several photos of the main cast were recently featured as the much-anticipated premiere of “Wayward Pines” Season 2 approaches.

Season 2 will be comprised of 10 episodes. The psychological thriller based on the bestselling books by author Blake Crouch will continue the events of Season 1, where the residents of Wayward Pines will be preparing a revolution against the iron-fisted rule of the First Generation. M. Night Shyamalan serves as executive producer.

The new season will have Jason Patric star as Dr. Theo Yedlin, a new resident of the town, who wakes up from suspended animation and discovers that he is in the middle of a brewing rebellion. He tries to learn more about the town and the threats that endanger the dwindling population of the human race.

Yedlin is described as a skilled surgeon and charismatic leader who will have a vital role to the citizens of Wayward Pines.

Two-time Academy Award nominee Djimon Hounsou, Emmy Award and Golden Globe nominee Hope Davis will be joining Patric in the second season, ThreeIfBySpace notes. Other cast members include Nimrat Kaur, who will play Yedlin’s wife, Rebecca, Josh Helman and Kacey Rohl.

Hounsou will play CJ Mitchum, an original resident of the town who will subsequently have to make an important decision that affects everyone. Davis will reprise her role as Megan Fisher, the principal of Wayward Pines Academy.

Entertainment Weekly reveals that there will also be returning characters from the first season, such as Tom Stevens (Jason Higgins), Terrence Howard (Sheriff Arnold Pope), Toby Jones (David Pilcher), Carla Gugino (Kate Hewson), Melissa Leo (Nurse Pam), ShannynSossamon (Theresa Burke), Tim Griffin (Adam Hassler) and Charlie Tahan (Ben Burke).

Higgins will be the leader of the First Generation. Rohl will play Kerry Campbell, one of Higgins’ trusted advisors. Helman will play Xander, whose objective is to undermine the town.
