Nick Kyrgios steamrolled through the second round of the 2016 Dubai Tennis Championships in UAE to advance into the quarterfinal stage and face third seed Tomas Berdych.

After a tough match against Slovak Martin Klizan, Kyrgios continued his stellar showing in Dubai, cruising past Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Kukushkin 6-3 6-2. The 20-year-old Canberran secured his maiden ATP World title at the Open 13 in Marseille last week and will bid for a second trophy in Dubai when he faces Berdych in the quarterfinal rounds.

Berdych maintained his consistency at the Dubai Championships after dismissing Italy’s Thomas Fabbiano 6-2 6-2. The 30-year-old Berdych fired eight aces and converted five of his 10 break points in a match that only lasted 74 minutes. But the Czech is well aware of the tough challenge ahead of him as he battles Kyrgios.

"Nick is playing really good, with a lot of confidence," Berdych said, reports the ATP’s official website. "He's doing well. So for me it's going to be a big challenge. Definitely I have a lot to give him back for last week and just really need to refocus myself, try to raise the game, and play some good tennis again."

Berdych and Kyrgios is bound to build a rivalry this season, with both players already having met each other twice on the tennis court, according to their FedEx ATP Head2Head details. Berdych won their first clash in the opening round of the Australian Open last month, but Kyrgios was able to bounce back, defeating the world No. 8 in the semifinal of the ATP Marseille.

Meanwhile, fourth seed Roberto Bautista Agut also advanced into the quarterfinals after defeating Korea’s Hyeon Chung 6-0 6-1. The Spaniard will face Marcos Baghdatis who dismissed Canada’s Vasek Pospisil in straight sets 6-4 6-2.
