Hong Kong customs and marine police on Saturday foiled a smuggling case involving a speedboat carrying 138 iPhone 6, along with harddisks and RAMs, from Hong Kong to mainland China. Deal hunters on Black Friday this week need only to zero in on Walmart for the lowest priced iPhone 6, iPad Air and other gadgets.

The giant U.S. retailer easily bests its rivals when it comes to providing the biggest savings for the post-Thanksgiving shopping craze, a report by BGR said. An average 44.5 per cent of discount on consumer electronic products will mark Walmart's generosity this year, which of course will kick off on November 28.

Better than Best Buy

According to the same report, which cited ShopSavvy as source, Walmart will top its competitors in giving out the most tempting price offs on devices, including the store's nearest rival - Best Buy. The latter actually came third with its price discounts averaging only 38.2 per cent.

Shoppers looking to snap up the gadget toys they've been wishing for can also consider Newegg, where the sticker price on devices lead to discounts of up to 42.7 per cent, the report added.

Irresistible iPhone 6, iPad Air 2 deals

For instance, the iPhone 6 on Walmart can go as low as $104 with 2-year contract on the strength of a discounted initial price plus the store's $75 gift card. Buyers who will pick AT&T or Verizon as service providers can also take home the smartphone without paying a dime as both telcos dangle plans that are $0 down payment.

Apple fans opting for the iPhone 5S could get the device for as low as $4 or even free, depending on their network choice.

As for the iPad Air 2, the tablet's starting price on Walmart is relatively dirt cheap at $389 - again thanks to the magic of price off and gift card combo.

The best part about these deals is they are already underway as Walmart started its own brand of Black Friday early, on November 21, and shoppers can enjoy them until November 27 or while supplies last.

Still better than Amazon

Walmart is also looking to snatch would-be online shoppers away from Amazon as the former announced that it will readily match the gadget prices and services found on the latter, Reuters said in a report.

So in the event Amazon would sell the iPhone 6 or iPad Air 2 for $100 or even $0, Walmart will match the price points - no questions asked.

And these purchases will be delivered free of charge to online buyers but Walmart is reminding that free shipment only covers the Top 100 items.

Deal hunters must note too that the Walmart 2014 Black Friday promotional campaign will take effect only on around 2500 outlets spread across the United States so it's best to check in advance the participating branches prior to heading out.
