Jon Bernthal of “The Walking Dead” has been roped in to play Frank Castle or The Punisher on the new season of “Marvel’s Daredevil.” The Punisher’s real name is Frank Castle, who is a vigilante in Hell’s Kitchen.

Earlier, Marvel announced that Bernthal with play the character of Frank Castle who becomes The Punisher. He is considered as one of the most popular characters in the Marvel universe.

Castle becomes The Punisher to punish the criminals and his goal to wipe out crime from Hell’s Kitchen in New York City. Unlike Daredevil, The Punisher resorts to extreme means to punish the culprits. He wants the criminals to pay for their sins at any cost.

“Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences,” Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television said. “Castle’s appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same.”

Bernthal is known for starring in “The Wolf of Wall Street,” “Fury” and “The Walking Dead.” The show “The Walking Dead” fans remember him for portraying Shane Walsh who was Rick Grimes’ (Andrew Lincoln) partner at the King County Sheriff’s department. He is Grimes’ best friend as well.

After the outbreak, Grimes is in the hospital and presumed dead by his family members Lori (wife) and Carl Grimes (son). Walsh starts to have feelings for Lori.

He is the leader of the survivors until the arrival of Rick. After Rick’s return, tension starts to build between two best friends as Walsh could not curb his feelings for Lori. Walsh is talented and skilled but at the same morally unstable. He is killed later by Rick Grimes and Carl Grimes. Rick stabs him and when he becomes a zombie, Carl puts a bullet in his head.
