Showrunner and Executive Producer Angela Kang teased some details about “The Walking Dead” season 9 in a recent interview. She talked about the plot and what the new logo signifies.

The next season is a fresh start in many ways. The plot will focus on the lives of the heroes after a time jump. The logo too is different this time around when compared to the logos of the past. The title in the logo is comparatively white and it also shows the growth of vegetation.

In an interview with Insider, Kang explained that in the previous seasons’ logos the title was gradually decaying, mirroring the decaying world all around the heroes, infested with zombies. The solid stone letters in the season 9 logo with greenery reflects “a new chapter” for the show, the producer said.

In this new chapter the fans will find that the heroes are trying to rebuild, but at the same time nature is mostly taking over. These changes will be for the better and for worse, the producer teased.

In the time jump, the heroes have finally run out of gas for their vehicles and they are running out of ammunition for their guns. The buildings around them are crumbling, and nature is essentially taking over the civilization that once thrived before the zombie outbreak.

The heroes will go to Washington, D.C. in the next season. It remains to be seen what will force them to take this journey and if they will find sanctuary there.

The next big threat that the heroes will face in season 9 is a mysterious group known as the Whisperers. This dangerous new group wears skin masks and blends with the zombies. They get their name from the fact that they always speak in a whisper, so that the zombies don’t get alerted by their presence.
