Avid followers of “The Walking Dead” were in for a surprise when a prologue to “the next chapter” in The Walking Dead’s story was dropped after Sunday’s mid-season finale.

The series is slated to make a comeback in Feb. 2016, but the makers have already ensured that the viewers are glued to their couches in front of the TV sets. The new clip aired after the mid-season finale episode and marked the debut of the villain Negan in the show. Negan is a character from Robert Kirkman’s graphic novels and will be seen in the finale episode of Season 6, according to Collider.

Another highlight of the newest addition to the characters of the show is that actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan will essay Negan's charachter in the series. However, Morgan will only be seen as a guest star in the season six finale. The seventh season of "The Walking Dead" will see Morgan as a series regular, according to The Hollywood Reporter (THR).

The prologue also featured the key characters of the show, Abraham, Sasha, and Daryl, who come across a few bikers.

"We will end your as--s, split you right in two, straight through to the sinuses," the bikers tell the trio. Abraham, Sasha, and Daryl later discover that the bikers were in contact with Negan who was planning to rob them of all of their stuff, including their weapons.

The season-six finale of the show featuring Negan will be directed by Greg Nicotero. After the renewal of “The Walking Dead” in the 16-episode seventh season, the show will share the record of AMC's longest-running original scripted series along with “Mad Men.” Season 6 of “The Walking Dead” will make a comeback on AMC on Feb. 14 at 9 p.m.

Meanwhile, Jeffrey Dean Morgan A.K.A Negan is currently seen romancing actress Julianna Margulies on CBS show “The Good Wife.”
