Chief Marketing Officer for Vodafone Australia Kim Clarke, announced on Thursday that the company is welcoming its prepaid customers to make the switch to its "lightning-fast" 4G network.

"We're rewarding our existing prepaid customers by transitioning them to our superfast wide-band 4G network first. Some have been with Vodafone for many years and we want to ensure their move to 4G is a smooth one," Ms Clarke said.

Future pre-paid customers will also be welcomed to Vodafone's 4G network by mid November.

"We also look forward to welcoming new prepaid customers to Vodafone's superfast 4G network next month. Word of mouth is spreading fast and we know many people are keen to try it out," Ms Clarke added.

For those existing pre-paid customers who were already on a 4G smartphone and would like to make the switch, all they have to do is to change their settings to that of the 4G (LTE) network. Vodafone makes available a handy device set-up tool to guide existing pre-paid users through the switch.

"All our existing Vodafone prepaid customers who are living, working or on holidays in a 4G coverage area will be able to access Vodafone's faster 4G network," explained Ms Clarke.

Handy instructions are available at http://www.vodafone.com.au/aboutvodafone/network/4g/set-up.

Those incoming prepaid customers will be automatically activated to 4G as they purchase a new Vodafone 4G SIM.

To ensure that their area are within Vodafone's 4G coverage, customers are advised to check Vodafone's coverage checker at http://www.vodafone.com.au/aboutvodafone/network/checker?lid=v:about:network:4g-ready:link-checker.

Prepaid customers accessing Vodafone "lightning-fast" 4G network will not be charged any extra cost. Everything is charged the same regardless of whether customers are on 4G or 3G.

However, because 4G speeds are perfect for video and audio streaming, 4G customers tend to use more data. In order to keep watch of their data and check if their data is still within their budget, customers are advised to check Vodafone's data calculator at http://www.vodafone.com.au/personal/wireless-internet/mobile-broadband/data-calculator.

"All of our current plans have Vodafone Alerts - handy reminders that let you know when you've reached 50%, 85% and 100% of your allowance. Plus, if you do happen to go over, your data is charged per KB, so you only pay for what you use," stated Vodafone's Web site.

Vodafone "lightning-fast" 4G network is automatically available for those existing customers on plan as long as they are accessing the 4G network in a 4G area.
