Jobseekers should consider working for one of the world’s highest paying companies in the financial services industry if they are eyeing competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits packages.

Multinational firm Visa Inc. led the Forbes magazine’s top 10 financial services firms ranked for its generous compensation for employees. The global payments company headquartered in Foster City, California, offers its employees with US$130,000 (AU$169,000) median base salary or US$150,000 (AU$195,000) median total compensation.

French banking firm BNP Paribas ranked second for paying employees across its global offices with US$118,500 (AU$154,000)median base salary or US$138,500 (AU$180,000) median total compensation. Employees of the international bank laud the company’s various benefits that promote work-life balance, according to a survey conducted by Glassdoor.

Online payments operator PayPal, meanwhile, secured the third spot on the list. The company headquartered in San Jose, California, reportedly gives median base salary of US$125,000 (AU$163,000) or US$135,000 (AU$176,000) worth of median total compensation.

New Jersey-based Dun & Bradstreet landed on the fourth rank for giving US$95,500 (AU$124,000) median base salary or US$130,500 (AU$170,000) median total compensation. Global investment firm BlackRock ranked fifth for paying employees with US$97,000 (AU$126,000) median base salary or US$125,250 (AU$163,000) median total compensation.

American credit card company MasterCard secured the sixth spot in the Forbes list for paying US$110,000 (AU$143,000) median base salary or US$125,037 (AU$163,000) median total compensation. Financial software, data and media company Bloomberg L.P. followed shortly with a median base salary of US$115,000 (AU$150,000) or US$125,000 (AU$163,000) median total compensation.

British multinational banking firm Barclays joined the list and ranked eighth with a US$107,000 (AU$139,000) median base salary or US$120,000 (AU$156,000) median total compensation for its employees. Meanwhile, American futures exchange company CME Group placed ninth with a median base salary of US$110,000 (AU$143,000) or median total compensation of US$120,000 (AU$156,000).

Australian investment company Macquarie Group made it to the top 10 financial services firms for paying a median base salary of US$105,000 (AU$137,000) or median total compensation worth US$120,000 (AU$156,000).

To come up with list, Forbes magazine utilised the information generated by Glassdoor, which then collated the companies’ salary reports between March 30, 2015 and March 29, 2016.
