Virgin Australia announced Wednesday plans for additional capacity over the next two weeks, adding 64 domestic services to meet increased demand.

On sale now for travel between Oct. 31 and Nov. 13, the new services will provide around 9,000 extra seats and will be operated by Virgin Australia aircraft and crew between Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

Virgin Australia confirmed that it will continue to offer competitively priced fares and conduct sale campaigns as planned.

The airline said it will also continue to review demand and provide more updates on capacity as necessary.

Wednesday’s announcement follows Virgin Australia’s confirmation last week that it was providing 3,000 additional seats per week up through Sunday.

Montgomery said fares for flights between Emerald and Brisbane would start from $88 one‐way signalling the beginning of a new era of much needed competition on the route.

To celebrate going on sale, a special launch fare of $69 one‐way is available from 9 a.m. AEST Wednesday until 11:59 p.m. AEST Thursday, or until sold out, he added.
