Vin Diesel has hinted at the possible sequel of the much popular animated film “The Iron Giant.” The actor took to Facebook to share the trailer of the film and suggested that the sequel could be in works.

“I have been very lucky to have played so many interesting characters… one of the first and one of my favorites is… the Iron Giant. P.s. Don’t be surprised when you hear WB announce the sequel,” the caption of the trailer post reads.

Diesel voiced the metal eating robot, the Iron Giant, in the 1999 film. Directed by Brad Bird, the film was nominated for several awards, and it also won nine Annie awards, including the Best Animated feature film. Although the film failed to receive box office success, it went on to earn cult status.

The film was based on the 1968 novel “The Iron Man” by Ted Hughes. It has yet to be confirmed if “The Iron Giant 2” is happening or not, but according to Collider, if Diesel’s post is anything to go by then there are chances that Bird is thinking of a sequel.

The film's signature edition, which features two deleted scenes, will be released in September in the U.S. in limited theaters. Afterwards, the film will be released in high definition.

Meanwhile, Diesel is currently gearing up for the release of “The Last Witch Hunter.” He plays immortal witch-hunter Kaulder in the film. He will be tasked with a job to stop the covens from destroying New York City. The film also stars Sir Michael Caine, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Julie Engelbrecht, Lotte Verbeek and Elijah Wood. Breck Eisner has directed the film.

Diesel is also excited to reprise his role as Dominick Toretto in “Fast & Furious 8.” The actor has been teasing about the film on his official Facebook page.
