Filming of “Vikings” season 6 continues. Cast member Katheryn Winnick (Lagertha) shared new behind-the-scenes-pictures online. The actress will take on the role of the director for one of the episodes this year.

After working alongside fellow cast members, Winnick has been busy the past few weeks giving directions to the actors. This will be the actress’ directorial debut, so she will be spending a lot of time behind the camera.

One of the pictures Winnick shared online (see below) shows her giving instructions to Alexander Ludwig (Bjorn Lothbrok). In the post, she said she was setting up her next shot. The actress/director can be seen imagining what the scene would look like when the cameras start rolling.

The other picture (see below) shows her having a conversation with Georgia Hirst (Torvi). Winnick complimented the actress by saying that she is talented. The picture gives fans a glimpse of the elaborate set that the crew has built for the show.

It is interesting to note that although Winnick is filming scenes related to her on-screen son, she herself is not in costume, suggesting that Lagertha will be missing in action when fans see Bjorn next season. This isn’t surprising because Bjorn has left his mother alone on several other occasions. Besides, the queen of Kattegat has her own battles to fight or escape from.

However, one big concern is the fate of Lagertha. The character is arguably the strongest female character on the show, and her possible death will deal a huge blow.

Whether or not Lagertha returns will be revealed in “Vikings” season 5. The second half is set to premiere sometime later this year. The producers are yet to announce an exact release date.
