‘Vikings’ season 5: Ivar (Alex Høgh Andersen)
Alex Høgh Andersen plays Ivar the Boneless on ‘Vikings’ season 5. History

A new teaser trailer of the next half of “Vikings” season 5 has been released online. The video teases another war between the brothers, as Bjorn Lothbrok (Alexander Ludwig) plans a counter attack after the devastating events in the mid-season finale.

Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen) was last seen reigning supreme at Kattegat. Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) and her forces were in full treat, trying to escape the city before the rival army arrives.

The new teaser trailer [see below] shows Bjorn looking dazed in the battlefield, surrounded by dead bodies. Will he face another defeat at the hands of his brother when he attacks to retake Kattegat?

The song “Don’t Dream It’s Over” by Crowded House plays in the background with a female voice. The words “There's a battle ahead, many battles are lost” can be heard in the video.

There are shots some of the other major characters in the video in quick succession. Bjorn can be seen strategising, considering how untrustworthy Ivar can be, making it difficult for any lord to come to negotiate with him.

Bishop Heahmund (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), who wants to save Lagertha, will be back. The character can be seen the trailer with a blood-soaked face.

Lagertha is still trying to deal with the events of the war for Kattegat. She is in no position to fight back, at least in the beginning. It remains to be seen what motivates her to head back into the battlefield.

No matter who wins in the coming war, the Vikings will descend into chaos. The trailer talks about the coming “darkness” for everyone.

With all this infighting weakening the Vikings, it will help in the rise of King Alfred (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo). A brief glimpse of the young king is also teased in the trailer. The character is set to play an important role going forward in uniting the kingdom.
