“Vikings” season 4 episode 17 was much-awaited as it was speculated that Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) might be killed in the season. The Seer (John Kavanagh) also said that she would die in the hands of Ragnar’s (Travis Fimmel) sons. However, this was averted by Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) in the last episode.

The fans of the show are rejoicing on the fact that they will see one of their favourite characters in the forthcoming episodes as well. One of the fans on Twitter asked Winnick as to who her favourite character from the show was. As many would have expected, it was neither Ragnar nor his on-screen son Bjorn.

Winnick said that her favourite character from "Vikings" season 4 was the Seer. She reasoned her answer by saying, “He sees the future.” Indeed, it was the Seer whom she went running to when she was in trouble. She went to him to seek help and know if she would die in Bjorn’s absence.

Winnick’s choice also reflects that there is more to the Seer’s character that the audience is likely to see in the coming episodes. Showrunner Michael Hirst also hinted the same in an interview. He said that the Seer will remain a pivotal part of the drama. He elaborated that his relationship with Ivar (Alex Hogh Andersen) will get deep in the forthcoming episodes. Hence, Winnick’s choice sounds reasonable enough.

The much-anticipated death of another popular “Vikings” character did not happen in the last episode. Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) did not die because Ragnar’s sons had a bigger mission to accomplish – to revenge their father’s death against King Aelle. Bjorn returned to Kattegat to make his stepbrothers realise what’s more important than taking his mother’s life.

Bjorn asserted that in order to kill Lagertha, they will have to kill him first. Ivar, Sigurd (David Lindstom) as well Ubbe (Jordan Smith) didn’t agree to it. They needed Bjorn on their mission.

“Vikings” season 4 episode 18 will observe Ragnar’s (Travis Fimmel) last wish of avenging his death taking shape. The episode will air on Jan.11 at 9PM ET in the US. The show also airs in Australia on SBS One at 8:30PM.
