“Vikings” season 4 episode 17 will observe the Seers’ role growing in the show and becoming very crucial to the story. Showrunner Michael Hirst recently said that Seer’s (John Kavanagh) role will become more prominent, and Ivar will share a deeper relationship with him.

It was the Seer who had predicted the death of Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) earlier in this season. Ragnar was told by the Seer that he would die when “the blind man sees him,” and that is what happened in the episode 15 titled “All His Angels.”

In the last episode titled “Crossings,” Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) was seen consulting the Seer and asking him about her death. She feared her death after Ivar was back as he was keen on taking revenge of his mother Aslaug’s (Alyssa Sutherland) death. The Seer told him that she would die and Ragnar’s son would kill her. Judging by the history of the Seer’s predictions in the past, it is expected that Lagertha might die.

Ivar-Seer relationship will become ‘deep’ and ‘interesting’

Showrunner Michael Hirst has also confirmed that the Seer’s role is quite crucial to the story. He did not reveal much about what will happen in “Vikings” season 4 episode 17 or the forthcoming episodes, and how the Seer will become a prominent character. However, he admitted that Ivar’s relationship with him will become deep as well as interesting. “I can give you enough though to say the Seer remains a pivotal part of the drama, but his relationship with Ivar becomes very deep and very interesting,” he was quoted saying.

Lagertha won’t be overthrown easily

The fate of Lagertha is now in the hands of Ragnar’s sons, namely Ivar (Alex Hogh Andersen), Sigurd (David Lindstom) and Ubbe (Jordan Smith). Speculations are doing the rounds that she will die towards the end of the season. Nothing can be said to be true as of now.

However, according to Hirst, she won’t be overthrown easily. “She’s Lagertha, she’s extraordinary and for the first time the History Channel has got a great female audience now, mainly I would say because of Lagertha, what she’s done, what she represents, her strength and things, and she won’t easily be overthrown,” Hirst said in the same interview.

“Vikings” season 4 episode 17 is scheduled to air on Jan.11 at 9PM ET in the US. The part two of the season will air in Australia on SBS One at 8:30PM on the same date.
