Victoria Beckham had a choice to either attend the opening of her first ever flagship store in London or to be present at her appointment as the United Nations Goodwill Ambassador in New York. Though both the matters were equally close to her heart and fell on the same day, the former Spice Girl chose the former. But her choice did not deter the opening of her grand "Victoria Beckham" store in London in any way.

Victoria's footballer husband David Beckham was present at his wife's first ever retail outlet at Dover Street. David happily greeted thousands of fans who were present at the store's opening. Though Victoria has been designing clothes since 2008, it is the first time she has opened her own store, which reflects her taste in art. The uniquely designed 6,000 square feet store took more than two years to plan and has reportedly been designed by architect Farshid Moussavi.

The uniqueness of Victoria's retail store lies in the fact that there are no mannequin displays and no tills. All the purchases are reportedly made through iPads. The guests were also handed a glass of champagne as they entered.

The store has "wafer-thin shelves," which retract into walls and it is equipped with "moveable blonde gold hanging chains" to make way for installations, events and developments, says a press release from the store.

Prior to the formal opening of her store, Victoria invited the press to have a glimpse into her flagship store. The Beckhams revealed that they looked into various retail spaces for more than two years to finally zero in on the Dover Street address.

The 40-year-old revealed to media that she does not want people to feel unwelcomed into her store but would rather want everyone to feel at ease. "I don't want people to feel frightened or scared to come in. The public have come on this journey with me and continue to be on this journey with me so I want them to feel welcome," revealed Victoria to the press.

The mother of four children also revealed that her kids thought that it was the "coolest" shop they have ever been to. Meanwhile, check out the video below to have a glimpse of her store.
