Fans are already excited for the series finale of “The Vampire Diaries,” which happens in March. Creator Julie Plec recently dropped a major clue on how the story may end for everyone.

Previously, it was revealed that Nina Dobrev will return in the final episode to reprise her character, Elena Gilbert. A major character is also rumoured to die at the end of the series.

Julie Plec took to Twitter on February 20 to answer some questions. She addressed “The Vampire Diaries” fans as patient and open-minded, and said that it is their time to ask questions. Plec confirmed that a main character will die in the final episode. Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena will also come face to face soon.

The finale will be set in the Salvatore house. There will also be flashbacks and forwards. No new kids will be introduced, except for the current ones, namely Caroline (Candice King) and Alaric’s (Matthew Davis).

According to Teen Vogue, there will be an hour-long special, featuring cast interviews, past clips and other memorable moments, before the finale of “The Vampire Diaries” air. Plec said that her most difficult farewell would be to the entire cast and crew. She added that watching the show come to an end was a sad but beautiful experience.

Plec garnered over 2,400 responses during her Twitter exchange, Refinery29 reported. Some of the other “Vampire Diaries” details that the series creator revealed included Elena’s politics, stating that she will be protesting on the streets. She could not reveal whether there is hope for Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena without giving out spoilers. Plec only said that Stefan is trying to have a happy ending. Plec continued that there may be a final diary entry, and the finale may be quite brutal.

Plec did not indicate how long the series finale of “The Vampire Diaries” will run, admitting that they have difficulty editing it down. Currently, the characters are looking for a way to destroy Cade (Wole Parks). Elena is set to awaken soon, although it is still uncertain whether she comes back before or after Bonnie (Kat Graham) fully lives her life. Elena and Bonnie were linked in a spell, where Elena was supposed to remain in deep slumber until Bonnie has lived out her years.

The series finale of “The Vampire Diaries,” titled “I Was Feeling Epic,” is set to air on Mar. 10 on The CW in the US. In Australia, it will air on FOX8. More updates and details are expected soon.
