“The Vampire Diaries” (TVD) Season 7 currently gives the fans a preview on what happened to their favourite characters through the flashforward scenes. Executive producers Caroline Dries and Julie Plec tease that more will be revealed on the storylines involving Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) and the Stefan-Caroline or “Steroline” relationship when CW’s supernatural drama series return in January 2016 with the second-half episodes.

Spoiler Alert: This feature contains major “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 spoilers.

In an interview with Variety, Plec teased that the TVD fans will find out why Bonnie appears to be in a mental institution receiving psychiatric care in the upcoming episodes of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7. Aside from revealing what happened to Bonnie, Plec further added that the second-half episodes will also tell the story on Bonnie’s relationship with Enzo (Michael Malarkey).

The flashforward scenes in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 also revealed that something happened and it ruined the Stefan-Caroline or “Steroline” relationship. Three years from now, the flashforward scenes in the early part of “The Vampire Diaries” revealed that Caroline Forbes (Candice King) is engaged but not with Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley).

In the winter finale episode, it has been revealed that Stefan is reunited with his first love, Heretic Valerie Tulle (Elizabeth Blackmore), so the “Steroline” relationship appears to be really over. Plec teased that those who watched “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 winter finale have to ask if Caroline’s anger came first in the Stefan-Caroline storyline or it was Stefan’s rekindled relationship with Valerie.

As for the female vampire hunter chasing Stefan, Plec teased that the winter chapter of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 will explore on that storyline and the fans will have answers by the end of February 2016. Meanwhile, TVD co-executive producer Caroline Dries has confirmed in an interview with TVLine that the viewers will still see more of Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino).

However, there is one “The Vampire Diaries” character whose life seems to be in danger. The flashforward scenes in the second-half episodes of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 are expected to reveal more on Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig).

“We haven’t seen [Matt in a flash forward]. And I don’t know if that’s a good thing,” Dries teased in an Entertainment Weekly (EW) TV Spoiler Room report.

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 airing schedule will move from Thursday nights to Friday nights when the CW TV series returns from its winter hiatus. “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 is scheduled to return with episode 10 titled “Hell Is Other People” on Jan. 29, 2016 at 8/7c on the CW Network.
