The latest photo stills from “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 provides a glimpse of a hanging Caroline -- who has been captured by the heretics -- and also of team Damon and Bonnie who are up against the threat to Mystic Falls.

The stills, trailers and cast quotes are promising an action filled new season of “The Vampire Diaries.” The much-loved characters are set to battle it out with the heretics to keep Mystic Falls safe.

The synopsis of Episode 2 of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 2 is out. The episode is titled “Never Let Me Go,” and according to TV Line report, viewers will see Caroline Forbes, played by actress Candice Accola-King, suspended, as her hands are tied up. She is going to become a “pawn in Lily and the Heretics’ plan for retribution,” the synopsis reveals. Also she is going to learn about some "shocking detail about Stefan's past."

The photos from Episode 3 of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 have already revealed that Caroline will continue to involuntary stay at the heretics’ home. This episode, titled “Age of Innocence,” will also feature Kat Graham’s Bonnie and Ian Somerhalder’s Damon teaming up with Alaric, played by Matt Davis. The episode’s stills showed the three of them hitting the open road “in search of leverage they can use against [Lily]” and her band of heretics, according to TVLine.

Meanwhile, showrunners Julie Plec and Caroline Dries have introduced the heretics in a video interview posted on “The Vampire Diaries” official Twitter account just a few hours before the show’s Oct. 8 U.S. premiere. Plec mentioned how Season 7 will introduce a “whole slew of new characters,” or the heretics. She also mentioned how the upcoming season will feature Damon and his brother Stefan, played by Paul Wesley, trying to deal with their mother Lily and her band of heretics.

Dries even commented on how Episode 1 of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 will show how characters Stefan and Caroline will “come back together as friends,” given the events of Season 6. The showrunner said, “We’re all kind of waiting to find out how Stefan and Caroline are going to come together… the last we saw them, Stefan said ‘I’ll wait for you’... so Episode 1 is about watching them come back together as friends.”

The premiere episode of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 airs on CW on Oct. 8 in the U.S., and Oct. 9 in Australia on Fox8.
