"The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 will be introducing a new female character in Mystic Falls when the CW TV series returns from its holiday break in 2015. The latest casting reports claim "24" and "Castle" actress Annie Wersching has been cast to portray the recurring role of Lily in the second half of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6.

Warning: This update on "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 contains spoilers.

An exclusive TV Line report revealed that the 37-year-old actress will make her first appearance in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6, episode 15 titled "Let Her Go" as the beautiful and strong character named Lily. The new character is also described to be articulate, caustic, intelligent, cunning and protective of the people that she loves at any cost.

However, it is still unknown who are the people that Lily will be protecting. Aside from portraying the mysterious new character in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6, actress Annie Wersching's other work credits on television include "24" where she portrayed Renee Walker, the recurring character of Dr. Kelly Nieman in "Castle," "Blue Bloods," "Extant," "General Hospital," "Supernatural," "NCIS" and "Hawaii Five-O."

Another face expected to make an appearance in the second half of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 is Joshua Parker (Christopher Cousins), the current leader of the Gemini coven, as the supernatural TV series focuses on the merging of witch powers between twins. The TVD fans first and last saw the new character in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6, episode 8 titled "Fade Into You" when Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Alaric (Matt Davis) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) found the Parker family's house in Portland.

The episode also revealed that Joshua Parker is the father of Kai (Chris Wood), Jo (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe), Liv (Penelope Mitchell) and Luke (Chris Brochu). Now that Kai is out of his 1994 prison world and powerful because of the Traveler's anti-magic boundary spell that he absorbed in the mid-season finale, it is expected that Joshua Parker will make an appearance in the upcoming episodes to stop his son from his evil plans.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 is scheduled to return on the CW Network from its long holiday season break on Jan. 22, 2015 with episode 11 titled "Woke Up With a Monster."
