Just days away from the premiere of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5, main cast members, Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev, continue promoting the brand new season of the hit CW TV series in their own way. The ex-couple recently bonded via social networking site Twitter as they countdown the days to the Oct 3 premiere.

Ian and Nina are keeping the "TVD" fans hooked with the upcoming Damon and Elena love story in their personal "Vampire Diaries" promo photos. On Monday, Sept 30, Ian wrote on his Twitter account @iansomerhalder that there are "4 days LEFT till #TVD" with an Instagram photo link that shows his hand extending four fingers.

Ms Dobrev picked up Ian's tweet and shared it on her own Twitter account @ninadobrev with the message that reads: "3 days left now!!! Just woke up for early set call for TVD :)." The 34-year-old heartthrob actor responded to his co-star's tweet with another countdown post and image.

"In the interest of Saving paper... 3 MORE DAYS till #TVD," Mr Somerhalder wrote with another Instagram photo link. Ian's previous Twitter posts may have hinted as well that he is still interacting with ex-girlfriend Nina out of the social media site, as he spent the weekend hanging out with his "Vampire Diaries" co-stars.

"Reflecting on my evening. Was at local bar w/grape juice&spirits w/my amazing @vampirediaries family-Im so grateful for these great people," Ian shared to his Twitter followers. In a Entertainmentwise.com report, Ian Somerhalder revealed that his vampire character, Damon Salvatore, is "feeling pretty good" that he finally got Elena Gilbert's affection.

In Season 4, Nina Dobrev's character, Elena Gilbert, professed her love for the other Salvatore brother: "You've been a terrible person. You've made all the wrong choices and of all the choices I've made this will prove to be the worst one but I'm not sorry I'm in love with you." However, Mr Somerhalder predicts that the onscreen couple's romantic relationship will still have ups and downs.

"It is Mystic Falls and no one can be happy for very long. I'm imagining for as much happiness as Damon's gonna get, he's going to get equal parts dark," Ian explained. Nina further teased the fans that the Delena couple will still try to figure things out since they "want their love to conquer all."

"They have gone through so much to get to where they are now," the actress stated. The Season 5 premiere of "The Vampire Diaries" is set on Thursday night, Oct 3, at 8 p.m. ET on the CW network.
