US President Obama’s daughter Sasha lands regular teen summer job, waits tables at a restaurant
US President Barack Obama’s daughter has taken a summer job like a normal teen. Sasha Obama, 15, has left her luxurious life at the White House to bus tables at a seafood joint.
Sasha, who goes by her full name Natasha while she’s working, has been hired to man the takeout window at Nancy’s, a seafood restaurant in the affluent Massachusetts area of Martha’s Vineyard. Her duties include working a cash register, bussing tables and prepping the restaurant, according to Boston Herald.
She has been working at Nancy’s for only a few days, and, according to reports, she will be working only until Saturday when Barack and Michelle Obama arrive for their two-week vacation.
“She’s been working downstairs at takeout,” a server told the paper. “We were wondering why there were six people helping this girl, but then we found out who it was.”
The six people the server mentioned were the six Secret Service agents assigned to protect the US president’s daughter. They sit outside the restaurant in a large Suburban SUV and on the takeout benches while their charge waits on the restaurant’s customers. When her four-hour shift ended on Tuesday, Sasha and a friend, both wearing the restaurant’s uniform of t-shirt and baseball cap, brought the security group a tray of drinks before they left.
As the daughter of the country’s highest leader, Sasha couldn’t just go around town without minders. She also probably couldn’t just hand in her CV to establishments for a job without the Secret Service double-checking everything for her safety.
As for how she got the job, she has per parents to thank for that. The Obamas, who are regular patrons of Nancy’s, are reportedly friends with the owner, Joe Moujabber, and they have asked him to take their daughter in for a summer job.
“She’s been around for a few days,” one of the girls at the takeout window told Boston Herald. “It’s pretty random.”
Sasha’s older sister, Malia, 18, was recently spotted attending the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago with her friends. Instead of going to the Democratic National Convention, the teenager opted to go to the annual music festival to have a good time.
