The U.S. Presidential White House gets a new dog alongside Bo - and her name is Sunny!

It seems that President Barrack Obama has decided on getting a new dog to add to the first family. Sunny is another Portuguese Water dog who will pass as a twin to their first dog Bo. According to the White House, the said breed is perfect for the First Family since they have family allergies.

Sunny was born last year in Michigan and just arrived at the White House on Monday. The new dog is expected to soon share evening walks with Bo, plus the occasional huddling within the Oval Office with the president of the United States.

The White House adds that the Obama family will give some donation in honour of the new dog straight to the Washington Humane Society.

Bo, the first White House dog of the Obamas, was adopted way back in April 2009. It was a way of fulfilling their campaign promise to the presidential daughters, Malia and Sasha. Bo, the big brother of Sunny. is actually a gift from the late Senator Ted Kennedy who was a fanatic of the same dog breed. He loved the Portuguese Water dog breed so much he even wrote a book for kids about it called My Senator and Me: A Dog's Eye View of Washington, D.C.

For those not familiar with the Portuguese Water dog breed, then here are some of the most interesting facts about it:

Family-Friendly

Many owners of such breeds are convinced that you won't be satisfied with having just one. The Obamas' dogs are bubbly and come happy all the time. Simply put, they are adorable, making them a good dog for families. However, one must note that their being way too bright can also cause them to spend a lot of time spending their high energy.

Great Swimmers

This dog breed is superior when it comes to the skill of swimming due to their webbed toes. It is well valued by fishers in Portugal for being such a great companion when they sail into the sea.

Hardworking Dog

According to the American Kennel Club, the breed can perform a wide array of tasks from guarding to pulling sleds and even rescuing people from water. Unlike other working dogs which are not so suitable to be family dogs, the Portuguese Water dog makes a big difference.
