Serena Williams had an easy win in the first round of the 2015 US Ope as the No.1 seed won over Vitalia Ditchenko of Russia. Williams didn’t face much retaliation from Diatchenko, who called in for retirement in second set because of leg a injury. William won the match, 6-0 2-0.

Diatchenko faced Williams on the Arthur Ashe Court at Flushing Meadows. Diatchenko had never made it beyond the 2nd round of a Grand Slam and her injured left ankle ensured her early exit once again.

Williams had an easy victory in under 30 minutes after winning the first set, 6-0. The match was paused at 5-0 when Diathcenko had to call her trainer because of her injury. She resumed the game with her ankle wrapped and went on to lose the first set. Williams served six aces in the match and won 13 of the 14 first-serve points.

In the next set, Diachenko retired on the grounds of injury and the set ended after two games. This ensured victory for Williams, who won 32 of 37 points.

William is on a chase of calendar Slam as she has already won the first three majors of the year. She may soon be able to match the footsteps of the German tennis legend, Steffi Graf, who won all four majors of the year in 1988.

“It was definitely different and bizarre. But at the same time I was still focused. I kept thinking, ‘Just stay focused; don't lose it. You never know what can happen.”, Williams told the reporters after her victory.
