An anti-gay Christian Scouting movement has just been launched in the U.S. Called Trail Life USA, the faith-based group has been specifically formed to denounce the May 2013 decision of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) when it overturned a ban to allow young boy gays and homosexuals to join its programs.

Launched over the weekend to 1,200 people, Trail Life USA is inclusive of boys, "regardless of religion, race, national origin or socioeconomic status. The group also stressed it accepts "boys who are experiencing same-sex attractions or gender confusion."

"However, it will not admit youth who are open or avowed about their homosexuality, and it will not admit boys who are not 'biologically male' or boys who wish to dress and act like girls."

John Stemberger, a lawyer, Christian activist, and vocal opponent of the Boy Scouts' newly adopted policy, heads the anti-gay alternative movement. He said Trail Life USA has the sole purpose to promote the "covenant of marriage between one man and one woman."

"We grant membership to adults and youth who do not engage in or promote sexual immorality of any kind," the new organisation's Web site said, "or engage in behavior that would become a distraction to the mission of the program."

Trail Life USA is currently working to create local chapters, with the help of a local pastor.

In May, the BSA, in its annual conference, voted to accept gay members in its ranks. The new regulation takes effect on Jan 1, 2014.
