Christopher James “Chris” Christie, Republican

Who Chris Christie is

Christie is representing the Republicans in the US presidential elections 2016. He was born in Newark, New Jersey, lived there with his parents until five years old and then moved to Livingston located in the same state. He graduated from high school in Livingston. He attended the University of Delaware and Seton Hall School of Law prior to starting his career as a lawyer. He also acquired doctoral degrees from Rutgers University and Monmouth University.

He began his political career when he took over as a Morris County freeholder. Christie lost the New Jersey General Assembly elections in 1995 after which he directly tried in 2009 for a gubernatorial position. He became the 55th governor of New Jersey, defeating Democratic incumbent Jon Corzine in the general elections 2009. He won the elections once again in 2013, leaving Barbara Buono behind.

Prior to being nominated by former President George W. Bush to serve as the US Attorney for the District of New Jersey in 2002-2008, Christie worked as a lobbyist for energy companies.

What Chris Christie wants

Christie praised the way President Barack Obama handled and managed everything during the Hurricane Sandy disaster in 2012. This supplemented the number of votes in the name of the president in re-elections. Christie’s support for Obama disappointed several in the GOP who still blame him for Obama’s second-term win.

Christie is a non-supporter of legalising recreational marijuana. He refers to the tax revenues obtained from those products as “blood money.” However, he gave a green signal to medical cannabis in New Jersey. He does not show any support for gay marriage, but advocates allowing homosexual couples to form civil unions.

Who Chris Christie is fighting against

The CNN/ORC International poll results were released on Tuesday, where Christie acquired the 11th position with three percent GOP voters’ support, while real estate mogul Donald Trump topped the list. According to MSNBC, Christie seems to be chasing Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton.
