Motorola Moto S will reportedly be exclusive to the U.S. carrier Verizon, following the footsteps of Moto X's exclusivity to AT&T and DROID handsets' exclusivity to Verizon.

However, the exclusivity deal between Motorola and Verizon pertaining to the Moto S could be for a short duration. Meaning, other carriers will also offer the Moto S subsequently after Verizon's deal expires. In specific, the Verizon deal will be in effect for two months. This also confirms that the Moto S can be availed from AT&T and others in December.

Furthermore, the Moto S will be unveiled officially within several weeks. In retrospect, the Motorola Moto X was exclusive to AT&T only for two weeks, however Verizon was able to make a deal stick relatively longer. Additionally, three new DROID-based devices will be released by Verizon shortly, according to Phone Arena.

The same publication also reports that although the deals pertaining to Moto S and DROID devices are with Verizon, the upcoming Moto S will not use the same branding as DROID. Instead, it will have the branding similar to the Nexus X (Nexus 6), barring the under the hood specification difference. Therefore, the Moto S will feature a killer 5.9-inch display, along with 1,440 x 2,560 pixels resolution. The device will be powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 805) processor backed by a good 2 GB of RAM. Speaking of camera, the handset will house a 13 MP primary unit. This pretty much sounds like the specifications of the upcoming Nexus 6/X. However, the main difference seems to be nothing but the Motorola logo embossed within a huge metal ring on the rear of the Moto S.

In a twisted turn of events, the naming controversy surrounding the Nexus device will be sorted out sooner than later. Google is reportedly working with Philip K Dick to get the license of the moniker Nexus 6. It remains to be seen though if the next-generation Nexus device will indeed be called as Nexus 6. Coming to the release date, numerous reports point to a launch in October, around Halloween time frame.

Barring the device moniker, rest assured there will be two killer phablets from Google this fall.
