Universal Pictures is releasing “Pitch Perfect 3” on Aug. 4, 2017, two weeks from its original release date of July 21, 2017.

The official Twitter page of the franchise revealed the date last week with the caption, “Save the date! #PitchPerfect3 is hitting theaters August 4, 2017.”

Following the success of the “Pitch Perfect” sequel, stars Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson will reprise their roles as Barden Bellas members Beca and Fat Amy in the third instalment. Kay Cannon, who penned the script for the first two movies, will also return to write this film’s script.

The director, however, is not yet named. The first two instalments of the film were directed by Jason Moore (2012) and Elizabeth Banks (2015). Banks, who co-produced the two previous films, will again co-produce "Pitch Perfect 3" alongside Max Handelman (Brownstone Productions) and Paul Brooks (Gold Circle Entertainment), Deadline reports.

“Pitch Perfect 3” is expected to take the slot that “Pacific Rim 2” left vacant due to a delayed production, Deadline added. The movie will hit theatres after the release of Sony’s new Spiderman film, which stars Tom Holland.

Meanwhile, “Pitch Perfect 2” successfully took the no. 1 spot this summer at the box office and earned US$69.2 million (AU$98.97 million) in its opening week. It grossed US$285.2 million (AU$ 407.87 million) globally.

Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie a 65 percent rating with 110 fresh and 55 rotten reviews. The film's soundtrack debuted at no. 1 on Billboard’s 200, according to Billboard.
