Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fanatics got their Christmas presents early as the announcement that former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) talent CM Punk has just signed a deal to appear in the Octagon. The former WWE heavyweight champion of the world will be trying on his MMA gloves but Dana White is expected to bring him along slowly due to his limited experience and his age. Nevertheless, Punk also known as Phil Brooks in real life was ecstatic of the opportunity and is looking forward to training hard to reach the level of professional competition.

"I'd say my professional wrestling days are over. I'm sure I'm gonna have to do plenty of wrestling [in the cage]," Punk told UFC commentator Joe Rogan during his appearance ring-side at UFC 181. "...The idea of being able to step into the Octagon and find out what's inside myself and test myself is an opportunity that I was not able to deny myself."

Both the wrestling and mixed martial arts world was rocked by the announcement which was embodied with the pouring Tweets on the subject. The reactions varied from the trolling of Jon "Bones" Jones that he too will transfer to WWE and headline Wrestlemania 31 to Punk's wife AJ Lee who was lukewarm but supportive to the matter:

There have been some hints to Punk's signing as UFC President Dana White has been welcoming to the idea before the announcement took place. Many of the professional mixed martial arts fighters are taking a wait-and-see approach to Punk's transition, who will only be the second athlete to both cross the UFC and WWE off his list. The ousted WWE talent has already began training with Brazilian coach Rener Grecie to sharpen his jiu-jitsu with the coach only having praises for the new UFC talent.
