Ultimate Fighting Championship reigning featherweight champion Jose Aldo asserts that his challenger Conor McGregor will last no longer than four minutes in the Octagon with him and afterwards will force the usually brash Irishman to disappear from the mixed martial arts circle. Aldo and McGregor made headlines anew last week after the much publicized belt-grabbing of McGregor.

During the last leg of the world tour promoting the fight slated for July 11, McGregor made waves when he snuck in across the side of Aldo and grabbed the belt from him, triggering a tug of war between the two prized fighters. The Brazilian champion did not think much of the incident and thought it was all just part of the loud personality of “The Notorious.” He claims that when the cameras are off his rival, McGregor is usually silent and if the polar opposite of the court jester he displays in the public.

Aldo also imparted his experience of touring the whole world to promote his biggest fight to date, going to various parts of the globe such as New York, Rio de Janeiro, London and Dublin to name a few. He added that the constant change in weather was the most disturbing and that he is happy to be back in his home turf training. Nevertheless, the passion to conquer the 27-year-old McGregor has never waned and he has responded to the promise of McGregor to end the match at the four minute mark.

"I will catch him earlier," Aldo told MMA Fighting on his plans on ending the fight earlier than what the Irish contender promised.

Aldo and McGregor are front and centre in one of the most hyped fights in UFC history. The bout has gained some following due to the charisma and personality of the challenger McGregor but the cool and calm demeanour of Aldo has been the best foil to the show. The different ends of the spectrum between the two fighters has added colour to UFC 189 which will be held at Las Vegas, Nevada. No less than UFC President Dana White has proclaimed that the fight will be the biggest of the year, predicting $7 million dollars from gate receipts, surpassing any mark set this year which includes recent bouts of big names such as Ronda Rousey, Jon Jones and Anderson Silva.

"It’s the biggest fight in featherweight history. The biggest fight ever in the featherweight division and I think it’s going to be the biggest fight we do this year,” White declared to the Irish Mirror.
