With its quest to increase its number of users and with the stiff competition with Facebook, Twitter is making big changes, which include fun and easy way to share videos, make public conversations private and ways to keep updated to key tweets even when offline. The company plans to create new mobile applications aside from its core messaging service which will make it easier for new users to adapt to its services.

Despite investors questioning the capacity of Twitter's ability for continued growth, shares of the social media company went up by more than 6 percent at $42.14 in a midday trading last Wednesday. According to Twitter's Chief Executive Dick Costolo, the company plans to speed up the pace of changes to its products and adding more functionality to its services. He also mentioned the company's belief that private messaging is relevant to the company's growth. He even added that the new private messaging feature would be introduced in the present quarter, Reuters reports.

In a recent blog released by Twitter, the company confirmed that they intend to make tweets richer and more captivating by giving its users more ways to Tweet other than the usual text. The company will be bringing in videos, Vines and GIFS into the user's timeline. They will also be introducing new features that will allow users to post multiple photos and even tag people plus the inclusion of emojis to let users express themselves. Wrapped in a new profile design, the social networking giant also said that they will introduce a new way for partners to share premium video and audio files on the site, which can be previewed and played in just one tap. Aside from the videos, users are also allowed to record and edit personal videos on the site too. The Direct Messages feature is something to look forward to as well. It will allow users to share and discuss Tweets publicly and privately through this feature.

Currently, Twitter is researching on how to give users "a snapshot of what's happening." According to Kevin Weil , company vice president for Product, they look into using information like who users follow and what they engage with, so Twitter can show the highlights of what he missed and present the info as soon as the user logs back in to the site.

Weil also said that the company will focus on product changes and improvements. He also added that the projects mentioned will be coming over the months and the company will also be considering feedback from its avid users for them to build better services.
