“Twin Peaks” season 3 is all set to return on small screens after almost 26 years. The makers have dropped the teaser of the reboot and have also revealed its air date. The series will be launched on May 21.

Fans’ excitement is increasing as the launch date is approaching. The first episode will be two-hour long, reportedly. The season will have 18 one-hour-long episodes.

New and old cast

A lot of characters from the original cast are returning for the season, including Kyle MacLachlan (FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper). There’s a lot of buzz around his character pertaining to the cliffhanger from the last season's final episode. Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey Horn), Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Briggs), Madchen Amick (Shelly Johnson), Phoebe Augustine (Ronette Pulaski), David Duchovny (Denise Bryson), Miguel Ferrer (Albert Rosenfield), Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer and Maddy Ferguson) and Ray Wise (Leland Palmer) will also return in their roles reportedly.

David Lynch, who has helmed the season is also returning in the role of detective Gordon Cole in “Twin Peaks” season 3. The characters have changed a lot in the past 26 years. “Some of the characters aren't where you think they might be 25 years later,” Madchen Amick told TV Guide. New additions to the cast include Naomi Watts, Tim Roth, Laura Dern, Michael Cera, Monica Bellucci as well as “The Walking Dead” actor Josh McDermitt (Eugene Porter).

Season 4 not confirmed

As of now, “Twin Peak” season 3 is confirmed. However, there is no surety the makers will renew the series for season 4. “Before I said I wasn't going to revisit it, and I did. You never say no. But right now there's no plans for anything more,” Lynch was quoted as saying at the Television Critics Association press tour on Jan. 9.

Watch “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me” before season 3

Furthermore, Lynch also recommended people to watch “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me” before watching season 3. Laura Palmer’s seven days before her death that were showed in the movie reportedly form a part of the plot in the next season of the show.

“Twin Peaks” season 3 will be launched on May 21 at 9PM ET on Showtime in the US. The show will be streamed on Stan at the same time, which is at 1PM on May 22.
