After playing “True Blood’s” Sookie Stackhouse from 2008 to 2014, actress Anna Paquin is set to go back in the small screen with husband Stephen Moyer and comedian Jack Black in “Madam X.” Paquin and Moyer are currently developing a miniseries with HBO based on Kate Manning’s book “My Notorious Life.”

The upcoming miniseries follows the scandalous life of an Irish immigrant, Axie Muldoon, who becomes a controversial midwife and abortionist. Muldoon rise from poverty to become a successful midwife as she courted controversy by helping women with unwanted pregnancies. She learned that the law doesn’t always apply as he found herself in collision with politicians who are dedicated in keeping the Victorian morality.

Based on Manning’s website, “My Notorious Life” is a story about love and family. But most of all it’s a story about a woman who is making a difference in the lives of countless women amidst morality and political issues. Muldoon defied the law when she and her husband build a thriving midwife business in the name of women’s reproductive rights.

To be directed by “Laggies” director Lynn Shelton, “Madam X” was written by Julia Hart (“The Keeping Room”). Set in Victorian-era New York City, “Madam X” stars the Oscar-winning actress in the lead role after taking some time off to take care of her two-year-old twins, Charlie and Polly, with her British husband. The duo is set to executive produce “Madam X” through their Casm Films banner and Black along with his Electric Dynamite partner Priyanka Mattoo.

Meanwhile, Stephen Moyer is also set to go back in the small screen with Kurt Sutter’s “The Bastard Executioner.” The 45-year-old actor will star alongside “Sons of Anarchy” creator and star Katey Sagal that follows the story of a warrior knight who is broken by the ravages of war and vowed not to use his sword again. But violence founds him again and he was forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all.

“Stephen Moyer plays the street smart and noble savvy Milus Corbett. He was one of Ventris’ marshals in the army. Now, serves as his Chamberlain, Chancellor and Justiciar. Friend and drinking mate. Moyer is repped by WME,” according to Deadline.
