Twitter can connect to the paranormal realm. A new Ouija board-inspired game is trending on Twitter called the “Charlie Charlie Challenge.” This new urban legend is sort of creepy, and the reaction to this weird game has been tremendous. A spirit named Charlie is summoned to give answers about life and to know Justin Bieber’s next move.

The Telegraph reports the Charlie Charlie Challenge involves two pencils kept in cross and a paper with your questions. Charlie, the Mexican ghoul, is then summoned to answer all your burning questions. To begin the game you need to put in your options in grid and summon Charlie by politely chanting “Charlie Charlie, can we play?” The spirit will allegedly move the pencil to answer questions with a yes, no or maybe. Players across the world have uploaded videos, pictures, memes and chilling accounts of Charlie answering the questions of life through revolving pencils.

The Charlie game comes in different variations. It can involve more pencils or even a recruiting partner with more questions. YouTube videos about the different modalities and rules for playing this game are available for novices. But caution need to be exercised as one is said to be dealing with a poltergeist that comes through a portal. If left opened, the portal can let in other malevolent creatures who can then wreak havoc in your life. The best way is to politely chant “Charlie, Charlie, can we stop?” and drop the pencils. This would signal Charlie to go back to wherever he comes from.

Weird and creepy urban myths have sprung around this game. According to Pencils.com, “Some kids have talked about strange things happening after playing this game, like seeing shadows or hearing a child’s laughter.”

But Twitteratis have responded with humour by calling on Charlie to answer questions like, “Which One Direction member would I marry?” or "What's Justin Bieber's next move?" Scientists have called this Twitter-inspired Ouija board as an act of mass delusion. Religious have been quick to respond that instead of Charlie, Jesus Christ should be summoned. But the hashtag #charliecharliechallenge is trending across all portals.
