Jenna Talackova made history for being the first transgender on the Miss Universe Canada stage last night.

Jenna Talackova, the controversial transgender was one among 62 other contestant competing for the Miss Universe Canada title at the Bluma Appel Theater in Toronto. The 23-year-old ramped on the stage during the bikini and evening gown portion towering over most of the ladies.

Miss Talackova who is from Vancouver was born a male but underwent sex change surgery four years ago. And while she walked on stage in front of a panel of 15 judges, there wasn't a hint of manliness that can be detected.

The panel of judges included designers Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan of HGTV's Home Heist, The Kennedys actress Kristin Booth and singer Kreesha Turner. Jenna said that she received support from her family and 14 relatives flew to Toronto to witness her compete last night

After being kicked out of the pageant last March, she then was later on allowed to join again by the Miss Universe organization founded by billionaire Donald Trump. Her being kicked out of the competition also brewed protests about discrimination against transgender.

According to the Miss Universe Canada website, the only requirement for someone to join the pageant was to be a Canadian citizen and between the ages of 18 to 27. There was no rule regarding sexual reassignment surgery, therefore Jenna was permitted to join again.

The results for the winners of Miss Universe Canada will be announced on Saturday.
