Real Madrid did not waste anytime in flaunting their new signing, James Rodriguez, from AS Monaco.
The 23-year-old Colombian international was a relatively an unknown player before moving to the Principality side in July 2013 from FC Porto. Some even questioned the Ligue 1 outfit's judgment when they reportedly paid as much as £40million to bring in the then-promising youngster.
Their belief in the young kid was somehow validated, as Rodriguez was able to help the Rouges et Blancs to a second-place finish last season in spite of the absence of his compatriot and star hitman, Radamel Falcao, who missed more than half of the domestic league fixtures, mainly, due to a cruciate ligament tear in his knee.
Consequentially, Monaco will be enjoying Champions League football in the upcoming term after having been just promoted to the French top-flight last season.
But, without a doubt, his defining moment came when he was able to steer his national side to the quarter-finals of the 2014 World Cup, scoring six goals that won him the Golden Boot in the process.
As a result of his hardwork and sheer determination, he has been recently unveiled as the latest galactico - worth £70million - at the historic Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
