Real Madrid has launched its final bid to acquire goalkeeper David De Gea from Manchester United. Real reportedly offered €25 million (AU$38.1 million), with an additional €5 million (AU$7.6 million), for the Spanish stopper and told the Red Devils it will be the Spanish club’s final offer.

According to Spanish newspaper ABC, Real has given its final try to land the Spanish goalkeeper, but United are said to be holding out De Gea for €35 million (AU$53.3 million) in one lump sum. Eurosport suggested that it is highly unlikely Los Blancos gave their final offer, adding that Real will be back with another proposal if United turns the bid down.

However, it appears United will hold on to De Gea after Louis Van Gaal included the Spaniard in the club’s Champions League play-off squad. According to Goal, De Gea’s inclusion in United’s lineup indicates that the Red Devils will not let the goalkeeper go easily.

Van Gaal believes De Gea is distracted with speculations of a move to Bernabeu, but the Dutchman boss stands firm that the 24-year-old goalkeeper will remain with United until Real meets the club’s asking price. Van Gaal also added that De Gea would probably play for United again as early as next month, when the transfer window closes.

“I think when it is September 1 then there is a decision made as the transfer period is over then you have to manage the new situation which is easier,” Van Gaal said.

Meanwhile, Arsenal has been preparing a club-record bid of £45 million (AU$96.5 million) for Real’s Karim Benzema, after the English club’s 2-0 defeat against West Ham on Sunday, the Daily Star reported. The Gunners have not given up hope on the French international and are willing to wait until the closing stages of the transfer window before making a move.

However, former Real star Kaka believes Los Blancos will not allow Benzema to leave. Kaka, who spent four seasons with Real and currently plays for Orlando City, claims the Spanish giants will not let Benzema go easily because he is one of the best forwards in the football league.

“But Karim Benzema is a very good player and if he can have the opportunity to go to Arsenal then Arsenal will take a very, very good player,” Kaka added.
