Real Madrid have reportedly handed out a £20million price tag to Premier League clubs Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea for Blancos defender Raphael Varane.

In spite of the promise shown by the 21-year-old French international, he has been sparingly used by Carlo Ancelloti, who prefers the old reliable pair in Sergio Ramos and Pepe, to anchor from the back.

Varane has only started in four La Liga fixtures, thus far. And while he has started in five Champions League group stage matches, they were against opponents who were relatively easier to deal with.

Stamford Bridge is the likelier destination as Jose Mourinho has already declared his admiration for the former Lens centre-back, stating that " he is the best young central defender in the world."

However, the Red Devils and the Gunners are also suggested to be seriously considering on acquiring the unfavoured youngster, as they look to add depth and quality in their defensive line.
