Paris Saint-Germain denied reports of preparing a bid worth around $181.6 million to acquire Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star has been linked with PSG and Manchester United over the past couple of weeks after reports that the 30-year-old Ronaldo was unhappy with the changes in Real.

Middle Eastern newspaper Rotana reported recently that the French giants had met with Real president Florentino Perez and suggested an offer for Ronaldo. PSG club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s advisory team confirmed that the speculation is “quite untrue” as noted by Sports Illustrated.

According to Independent.co.uk, the speculated transfer could have been possible for PSG with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play restrictions relaxing on the club. Reports also stated that the French club had been closely monitoring Ronaldo’s displeasure at Bernabeu. However, PSG insisted that they did not make such offer to the Portuguese international.

Meanwhile, PSG is close to finalising a deal with United’s Angel Di Maria, but the Red Devils want to receive more than the half of the Argentinian striker’s transfer fee from last year. According to ESPN FC, United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is holding out for more before agreeing to a deal. The report indicated that United only received $60.7 million bid, which is less than half of Di Maria’s $127.2 million transfer deal a year ago.

While United boss Louis van Gaal wanted to keep Di Maria for the upcoming season, the Red Devils are happy to allow the Argentine international to leave, given the problems he suffered in his season debut for the club. Despite the hold out, Di Maria is still expected to bolt from Old Trafford. PSG boss Laurent Blanc is confident that the deal to bring the 27-year-old Di Maria to Parc des Princes will go through.

“In the Di Maria case, the whole thing is close to being over,” Blanc said as noted by Daily Mail. “I'm rather positive about it.”
