Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are on red alert over claims that Real Madrid’s football star Cristiano Ronaldo could leave Bernabeu next summer. Ronaldo, who was signed by Real from United in 2009 for a then world record £80 million (AU$173.9 million), is said to be seeking for a new challenge after a seven-year career with Los Blancos.

United and PSG are on the move to go head-to-head for Ronaldo after reports that the double Ballon d’Or winner is set to leave Real next summer to seek new challenge in his career. According to the Mirror, Real would want a new world record fee of £90 million (AU$195.7 million) for Ronaldo next summer, justifying the Portuguese international’s high asking price for his phenomenal scoring record and global fame. However, the report suggested that Ronaldo’s camp is convinced that the realistic figure for the 30-year-old footballer is around £70 million (AU$152 million) give his age.

United have twice tried to lure Ronaldo away from Real since CR7 moved to Los Blancos. The Red Devils would be willing to take a third try in bringing Ronaldo back to the Premier League, setting to meet the footballer’s £15 million (AU$32.6 million) a year wage demands.

PSG, on the other hand, is also plotting to launch another attempt to snatch Ronaldo from the Spanish giants. Marca reported that French club is willing to spend north £250 million (AU$543.6 million) between the transfer fee and wages to land Real’s superstar. The report also revealed that PSG plans to offer to a substantially better contract that what Ronaldo has at Real.

Ronaldo has scored a total of 321 goals in 305 appearances for Real. Ronald could soon eclipse the club’s record of 323, which is held by legendary skipper Raul.
