Nigeria

Nigeria, officially the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is a federal  constitutional republic comprising thirty-six states and its Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The country is located in West Africa and shares land borders with the Republic of Benin in the west, Chad and Cameroon  in the east, and Niger in the north.

Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa, the eighth most populous country in the world, and the most populous country in the world in which the majority of the population is black. It is listed among the "Next Eleven" economies, and is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. The economy of Nigeria is one of the fastest growing in the world, with the International Monetary Fund projecting a growth of 9% in 2008 and 8.3% in 2009.

 It is the third largest economy in Africa, and is a regional power that is also the hegemon in West Africa.

FIFA World Cup Round of 16 Highlights: Germany vs. Nigeria and France vs. Algeria

Europe may have taken big blows in the group stage of the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil with the early exits of defending champions Spain and other European giants like Italy and Portugal, but the remaining teams are keeping it alive in the knockout stages. The Netherlands have already booked a place in the quarterfinals after beating Mexico and now Germany and France have bested their African opponents to create a showdown against each other in the top 8.

FIFA World Cup Group H Highlights: Belgium vs. Korea and Algeria vs. Russia

Belgium and Algeria advance from the final group matches in Brazil. The Red Devils edged out the last Asian team in the competition, Korea Republic with a 1-0 final score. Algeria only managed a draw against Russia but the lone point was enough for them to become the second team from Africa to make it to the round of 16 joining Nigeria from Group F.
