Korea-based tech giant Samsung just released their revolutionary tablet, Galaxy Note 10.1, at a media event.

IDC reported that Apple dominated the tablet market on the second quarter of 2012, with the iPad grabbing 68 per cent of global sales. The preliminary report released on Thursday in the US by IDC showed global tablet sales of 25 million - up 33.6 per cent from the first quarter and 66.1 per cent year-over-year.

Apple got a boost from the March release of its newest version of the iPad, and sold 17 million tablets in the second quarter. Samsung jumped into second place with sales of nearly 2.4 million, up 117 per cent from a year earlier.

However, other tablets are slowly catching up to Apple. In the smartphone market, Samsung overtook Apple last quarter that inspired the company to further bite into Apple's shares in other markets.

Samsung impressed the press with a media event with a theme "Creativity" as it presented new ways to use a tablet. The company mentioned that tablets are conventionally used for content consumption and cited that the Galaxy Note 10.1 will focus on the creation of content.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 has new features that enable content creation in ways new to tablets. Samsung brought creative professionals to the press event to describe how a few weeks of working with the Galaxy Note 10.1 improved their work processes.

The main features enable and facilitate creation. The media event focused on the S Pen, multiscreen function, and apps written specially for the new environment. The software adds true multitasking with multiple apps on-screen. There is also a pen that makes many apps more natural to use. Adobe Photoshop Touch is included.

ASUS is also a golden child of the tablet market. After making the Google's Nexus 7 and releasing a wide array of other tablets, ASUS is one of the top contenders in the tablet market.
